What is the spiritual significance of Panch Kedar?

According to Hindu mythology, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva’s blessings for redemption from their sins. Shiva, disguised as a bull, disappeared into the earth, and his body parts appeared at the five Kedar temples, which are now revered as holy sites.

How long does the Panch Kedar Yatra take?

The complete yatra typically takes 12-15 days, depending on the starting point and pace. The temples are spread across remote, mountainous areas, and traveling between them involves trekking, often on rugged trails.

What is the difficulty level of the trek?

The Panch Kedar Yatra involves moderate to strenuous trekking, especially for temples like Rudranath and Madhyamaheshwar, which are accessible only on foot. A good level of physical fitness is recommended for this pilgrimage.

When is the best time to undertake the Panch Kedar Yatra?

The ideal time for the Panch Kedar Yatra is between May and October, as the temples are closed during the winter due to heavy snowfall. The monsoon season (July-August) should be avoided due to landslide risks.
